MEF Creates Possibilities at Rheem
“Every single day, Rheem’s students participate in classes like art, music, and science that support the district’s whole-child approach to education. These programs and others exist thanks to your MEF donations. Thank you!”
Brian Sullivan
Rheem Principal
Did you know that Moraga’s schools are among the lowest-funded in the state?
Your donations to the Moraga Education Foundation enable MEF to make significant annual grants to benefit all of Moraga’s public schools, including Rheem Elementary School. Read more about how your donations create possibilities for every student at Rheem below.
2024-2025 MEF Grant to the Moraga School District:
$1,650,000
At Rheem, your MEF donations fund:
-
SCIENCE INSTRUCTORS & SUPPLIES
Students attend weekly science classes with a credentialed Science Instructor. Students engage in learning and conduct experiments in a dedicated lab setting.
-
ART TEACHER
Students attend weekly classes with a credentialed Art Teacher where they learn about different artists and cultures and create art with different mediums.
-
MUSIC TEACHERS
Students attend weekly classes with credentialed music teachers. In 4th and 5th grade, they have the opportunity to be in the choir or learn an instrument in the orchestra or band.
-
COUNSELOR
Rheem’s School Counselor works with students in brief counseling sessions, mindfulness, social skills lessons, and the popular Lunchtime Clubs.
-
LIBRARIAN
The Rheem Librarian maintains the school library, hosts weekly students visits where kids can check out books, and helps students find new books to love.
-
READING TUTORS
Reading Tutors work with students between Kindergarten and 3rd grade. When teachers have this extra support, they have more time to dedicate to all the students in their classroom.
“The science teacher does hands-on learning with students in the science lab and also collaborates with classroom teachers to extend the learning throughout the rest of the week.”
BRIAN SULLIVAN
Rheem Principal
“Because of your support, we have preserved art and music programs while many other districts have had to eliminate them.”
DR. JULIE PARKS
MSD Superintendent
"Librarian Mrs. Gillbanks is a storyteller at heart. Each week, my students come back from the library so excited, ready for more. She inspires them to be avid readers."
MRS. LORIE
Rheem Kindergarten Teacher
Every student benefits from MEF grants, so we ask every family to contribute.
“My son was introduced to the violin in 4th grade, and now he wants to play in middle school. Without that opportunity to try it, I don’t think he would have discovered something he now truly loves!”
RHEEM PARENT
Why do you give?
“I grew up in Maryland where art, music, and other programs were funded by the state. I give to MEF because I want my kids to be able to have all of these opportunities and more so they can get the best education.”
